Deadly Doom took the victory in this rookie match against the Woodwatchers. But the match could so easily have gone the other way, as proven by the blitz TD already in second turn by Almeidar Gobochaiser.
The weather was perfect in the opening match of Aros season XI. This had made at least 4000 Wood elf fans to enter the stadium. Of course nothing compared to the hordes of Deadly Doom fans which spured on by the free Akse beer from the sponsor showed up such a large number as 41000.
After the first TD they went so furious that they got the ref, which did not dare look at the DD players the rest of the half.
With only 8 elfes on the pitch Rigor Mortis did not live up to his name when he tied the score in turn 4.
The rest of first half, did "only" yield 3 KO including both WW's wardancers. (Only one of those on a foul, the only foul made by DD eventhough they did get the ref :) )
In the 8th turn both teams had realistic chances of getting ahead, but the wardancer fell on a dodge in a TZ (and was then fouled KO), before a wight failed to catch for a sure TD. So tied 1-1 at the half.
But as both wardancers stayed KO it was 6 elves (on thrower) against 11 from DD. And as a cruel dejavu Mummy Cheops the Great SI Cothique the Fearless as the first action of the half, and two turns later a KO left 4 elves against a full Undead team. Although one elf did dodge through 2 players (4, 3, 2 and two go for it 2, 2) his blitz ended with a push back, and soon the ball was safely in the cage.
The elves stayed away from the cage, and actually KOed a skeleton and a mummy comming after them. In the end Rigor Mortis made the winning TD. For this he was of course choosen MVP of the match.
All KO'ed woodelves came back for their finale turn and made an heroic effort to pull of a one turner, which would have been alot easier had the weather not suddenly turned into a blizzard. In the end Zed the Zombie choose to fall instead of acting like a pushing doll for the elves and that concluded the match.
Both teams FF went up (it doubled for WW :P ). DD got 90 kgps vs 50 kgps for WW in treasury.
