Deadly Doom took their place in the final by grinding the Pure High Elfs into the ground. Nevertheless the elfs managed to put a little pressure on DD in the last turn were a hand-off were needed to prevent overtime. However, with only 7 elfs on the pitch - overtime would probably not have been to their liking.
"Only" 118.000 fans had shown up for this semifinal inspite of the fine weather. Once again the vampire Count Luthor joined DD and both teams hence had 15 players ready to choose from.
The elfs choose to let DD recive and they did so in style with a quicksnap and a touchback that gave Count Luthor the ball. He keept it without trouble through the entire half and in turn 8 he blitzed Merändil EmeralBow out through the EZ into a crowd SI and scored on the follow up. 0-1 in first half with no chance of a one turner for the she elfs
The turn before the TD, Count Luthor had also BH Lhunarh StharrLight in a blitz to get within scoring reach, so it was a great half for him. Furthermore Ra had BH Laurana EagleEye and Elendil EveningStar were BH in a failed dodge. But the single KOed elf came back in and hence the elfs managed to field 11 players for 2nd half.
Great defence from DD prevented the two turn TD, and then Count Luthors gaze opened op for a 2 dice blitz on the ball carrier and down she went. However, Mad Max then failed to grap the ball in one TZ despite his sure hands!
This luck anoyed DDs fans and the ref got a taste of that. Hence he did not pay much attention during the last drive of the match, as Argos used to tries to KO the other dirty player on the elf team. The first DP was KOed at the first block of the drive by a mad mummy. (No casualties came from this fouling though, but Ra quickly SI LunarTemple HighPriestess).
The ball had ended next to the sideline, but Count Luthor graped it once again. And held on to it until the last turn. In this last turn the elfs had made some great defence and eventhough Ramses the 5th BH Dawn EverGlow the path to the EZ was still almost closed for Count Luthor. Hence he had to hand-off to Sinistra Dextre, who then with no further problems could run in the winning TD for the end result: 1-2.
Only mishap for DD came at the start of 2nd half were a nasty dirty player SI Uffe, and thus gave him a niggling. He were retired instantly!
However, even with the meagre gate DD managed to earn 70 k (vs 60 k for the elfs) and has thus enough gold in their treassury to hire Count Luthor and a spare zombie to replace Uffe in the final!
For some wierd reason no new fans joined either of the two teams, especially wierd for DD! But although DDs opponent in the final Bad Moon Backstabbers is slightly more popular with the fans, DD seem to have the advantage, especially with the promiss from Count Luthor to join the team for the fourth time this season!
