Match notes
It did not seem likely that Backstabbers could repeat the result from last season final, after their terrible beating against Blood Bowl Bunnies. But DD was also weakened after their match against Blight Lurkers and seemed to fear the luck of the gobos. And once again not a single gobo failed a dodge, and once more DD’s players fell right and left ending their own turns, and in the end DD had to be lucky just to reduce the score to 2-1 and the Gobos once again won, and once more came through a meeting with DD basically unharmed.

DD missed Lex Liche who died last match, and also Sinistra Dextre who was still recovering from stumbling over his own feet in that fatal match. Furthermore a virus had rendered Mad Max too sick to play, and that was the first time the mad and strong ghoul missed a match for DD in more than 20 tries. Of course it should happen against DD’s nemesis. So although DD had 13 players ready vs. only 9 only 3 of these could handle the ball.

Backstabbers only had one really good player left Geiler Lömmel, but he were at least ready for the game, and new addition to the team Fjas Foulfart had been really waiting for this game and seemed to be almost as agile as Fas Firmfoot who he replaced.

But it would seem unlikely that two trolls and 5 Gobos would be enough to help these two agile stars when the team kicked off to DD in front of a new season record gate.

DD began well, but the gobos just stayed on pitch, although four went down and one was fouled. The gobos hence attacked with all they had, and suddenly DD had to run Mean Midget down pitch with the ball to get out of reach. Or so he though. A subsequent push of the troll Brickskull (N)everdodge gave him a chance to everdodge and in a blitz he took the ball carrying ghoul down. The ball then bounced to the troll who almost caught it, but Geiler Lömmel yelled at him and he was pro enough to let the ball fall to the ground. This was however, a bad choice by Geiler Lömmel who went on to fail the pick-up.

But no problem for BMB. Ramses the 5th had for the second turn in a row trouble staying upright when he pushed it, and this problem was followed immediately by a double skull blitz on Geiler Lömmel who hence took S. Finxter down stunned!

This time Geiler Lömmel grabbed the ball and ran down towards DD’s EZ. But finally something failed, and there was a good opportunity for DD to blitz the little scoundrel. But just before Benno Brausekopf II got close to him, DD once again had the lack of luck, and he tripped over his own feet. Hence Geiler Lömmel could blitz him self down the pitch, and ran out of reach, and DD never managed to get close enough, so he could wait until DD only had one turn left before he scored for 1-0 in DD’s receiving.

Angered by their lack of luck, Xorn had fouled Brickskull (N)everdodge SI, and the apo stayed off pitch. Well managed as the troll easily regenerated and was ready for the second half. And so was the fouler, who was not spotted. Also Argos made a real cas this time, when he SI Puni Hardon.

In the last turn DD’s sole wight S. Finxter tried to blitz a gobo, but he fell on a double 1 go for it, and was then fouled KO. At least he woke up in time for second half.

DD had to kick to the Gobos, and in turn 2 they had their new agile gobo Fjas Foulfart within scorings reach. DD managed to block him off, but again Geiler Lömmel took matters in his own hand, taking a solo blitz to break the wall, and with two push backs, the road was opened, and 4 dodge and 2 go for it later it was 2-0.

Before this Scar Fishgutter had killed "Dead" Mortis but for the first time in DD’s history a zombie managed to regenerate a death.

The gobos then began the next drive with a blitz, but it was not to much use though. But although DD tried to get down pitch, and finally got some gobos out (the KOs had just gotten back due to some nice smelling salts), it was possible for the two trolls and a few gobos to halt DD’s scoring attempt. (Wolf BH Horny Cattlecap, and Xorn KOed another gobo in a foul without being spotted. DD made 5 fouls without even once being thrown out! But not much came off it. Although earlier another foul saw Geiler Lömmel SI injured in a foul, but the apo managed to prevent a niggling injury).

In a last effort to get a chance to tie the game, Mean Midget ran down the opposite side out side of reach, and a single go for it, was needed to give him a certain TD in the next and second last turn. Then a blitz or injury time could give DD a small chance. But oh no, one more double 1 (3rd on top of a double skull with RR spend) saw the Ghoul KO himself. The ball were still out of reach of the Gobos, and when Geiler Lömmel got his TZ on it he were KOed by Ra. But there were no DD players to pickup the ball. And next turn Fjas Foulfart managed to pick it up in three TZ and run away with it.

With a great effort DD managed to get him down, and twice did Erik manage to not catch it. In the end Enasni the Death Eater managed to take advantage of his passing practise from the last turn of first half, and he completed a short pass to S. Finxter and in the last turn he managed to run the ball in for a TD to decrease the defeat to 2-1.

The gobos team was nothing without Geiler Lömmel and he of course received the MVP and has now also sure feet. Wolf got DD’s MVP for his casualty and he for some reason choose tackle, but also he got older and is now as well armoured as a gobo!

Neither teams gained or lost fans, but the gobos took twice as much winning as DD who still collected 60 k due to the record gate.

The gobo victory was a huge surprise for the Gobo coach, but Necromancer Kynde looked like one that had feared exactly this result after his horrible defeat in last season final. If BMB is not lucky, then DD is unlucky when these two teams meat.

And while DD now is not 100% sure to move on to the play-off the gobos suddenly has a decent chance of making it into the play-off.
